TRENTON, NJ - The Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Museum will present the Autumn Evenings Series, a new four-part program of live digital events starting October 8. Join museum educators and curators as they host a lively discussion about a different theme each week, create a signature cocktail, and end the evening with a round of trivia. This season's dates and themes are:

• Oct. 8th: Back to School with Museology 101
  Brush up on the life-cycle of an object in a museum with our State Museum experts! Learn all about preservation, conservation, exhibition and interpretation as we discuss the study of museums.
• Oct. 22nd: Ghosts of NJ Past
  From fossils to artifacts, cemeteries to stories of our shared history - these tales from our past may haunt us if we don't listen closely.
• Nov. 11th: Contested Debates
  Elections are critical to our democracy, but so are the debates that precede the votes! Hear about some of Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ's most heated debates from the museum's collections.
• Nov. 19th: Feasts, Festivals and Commemorations
  Humanity's shared sense of ceremony and ritual have guided societies for ages. We’ll take a look at stories of American Thanksgiving, festivals celebrating our State's favorite fruits, and reasons why we chose to come together at certain times of year.

Each event takes place on a Thursday evening at 8 pm on Zoom. The events are free, but pre-registration is required. Donations are gratefully accepted by the Museum Foundation and directly support Museum programs & event. You can make a donation by visiting .

The Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Museum is currently closed due to the pandemic, however, staff continue working remotely to plan exhibitions and programs, answer research questions and provide identifications of archaeological and natural history specimens for the public. The Museum Shop, operated by the NJ State Museum Foundation, a non-government 501(c)3 organization which supports the Museum, is offering online shopping opportunities for those who miss visiting in person. The online Shop can be accessed from the tab on the Museum website. In addition, work is taking place to ready the Museum for reopening, with reduced capacity, additional cleaning protocols, social distancing and face coverings required. The Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Museum Foundation was founded in 1968 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) to support the Museum's collections, exhibitions and programs through fundraising, volunteerism, advocacy and marketing.
