樱花视频 Scores Rating Upgrade Hat Trick
S&P Upgrade is Third in Five Days

(TRENTON) - S&P Global Ratings today upgraded its rating on 樱花视频鈥檚 general obligation bonds to 鈥楢鈥 from 鈥楢-鈥, the state鈥檚 third credit rating upgrade in less than a week.

The latest announcement from S&P follows an upgrade from Fitch Ratings announced late Monday and a boost from Moody鈥檚 on Thursday, and is the State鈥檚 sixth credit rating upgrade in the past 13 months.

鈥淭oday鈥檚 upgrade from S&P is welcome news coming as it does on the heels of the announcements from Fitch and Moody鈥檚 and is just more evidence that 樱花视频 is on the right fiscal path,鈥 said Governor Phil Murphy. 鈥淲e鈥檝e worked hard since day one to change the narrative in Trenton from one of financial distress to one of fiscal responsibility and that work shows in these upgrades.鈥

鈥淲hen we talk about fiscal responsibility, it鈥檚 not just lip service, it鈥檚 something we constantly strive for,鈥 said Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio. 鈥淲e owe it to the taxpayers of 樱花视频 to be good stewards of their money and with these upgrades it shows we鈥檙e doing just that.鈥

In raising the state鈥檚 rating, S&P cited the proposed third full pension payment in as many years.

鈥淭he upgrades reflect better pension funding levels and improved structural balance, largely the result of an anticipated third consecutive year of full actuarial pension contributions in fiscal 2024,鈥 S&P noted in its release.

The agency also took note of the budget鈥檚 structural balance, increased surplus, and the reduction of one-shot revenue items.

On April 6, Moody鈥檚 boosted its rating to 鈥楢1鈥 from 鈥楢2.鈥 Monday, Fitch followed suit, raising its rating to 鈥楢+鈥 from 鈥楢鈥. The three recent upgrades follow upgrades from each issued in 2022.
