Trooper Eli M. McCarson

Eli McCarson was born in Washington Township, New Jersey.  Eli attended Lambs Road Academy for his freshman year of High School and graduated from Clearview High School in Mullica Hill, Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ.  He attended Rutgers University (Camden) and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.  Eli held many previous jobs before becoming a Trooper.  He worked as a lifeguard, a landscaper, a sales associate, a server, a bartender, and a stock person.  He was also a member of the Gloucester County 4-H Club.

Trooper McCarson enlisted in the Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Police on February 20, 2015, as a member of the 155th Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Police Class.  He served at the Troop “A” Port Norris and Woodstown Stations. His service with the Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Police was characterized by loyalty, fearless performance of duty and faithful and honorable devotion to the principles of the Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Police.              

On Thursday, December 17, 2015, Trooper McCarson responded to a domestic violence call in a marked patrol car on Quinton-Alloway Road near Route 49 in Quinton Township, Salem County.  He was driving in heavy rain when he lost control of his patrol car and struck a utility pole.  Trooper McCarson was taken to The Memorial Hospital of Salem County, where he died from his injuries.

Trooper McCarson served with the Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Police for 10 months.

He is survived by his wife, his parents, and four brothers.  Eli McCarson was 30 years old.
