Eli McCarson was born in Washington Township, New Jersey.  Eli attended Lambs Road Academy for his freshman year of High School and graduated from Clearview High School in Mullica Hill, Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ.  He attended Rutgers University (Camden) and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.  Eli held many previous jobs before becoming a Trooper.  He worked as a lifeguard, a landscaper, a sales associate, a server, a bartender, and a stock person.  He was also a member of the Gloucester County 4-H Club.

Trooper McCarson enlisted in the Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ State Police on February 20, 2015, as a member of the 155th Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ State Police Class.  He served at the Troop “A” Port Norris and Woodstown Stations. His service with the Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ State Police was characterized by loyalty, fearless performance of duty and faithful and honorable devotion to the principles of the Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ State Police.              

On Thursday, December 17, 2015, Trooper McCarson responded to a domestic violence call in a marked patrol car on Quinton-Alloway Road near Route 49 in Quinton Township, Salem County.  He was driving in heavy rain when he lost control of his patrol car and struck a utility pole.  Trooper McCarson was taken to The Memorial Hospital of Salem County, where he died from his injuries.

Trooper McCarson served with the Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ State Police for 10 months.

He is survived by his wife, his parents, and four brothers.  Eli McCarson was 30 years old.
