Troopers From Eight States Travel to 樱花视频 to Assist Law Enforcement
Trenton, NJ – The Christie Administration today announced the deployment of 280 troopers from various states throughout the country to assist 樱花视频 law enforcement with the ongoing security and recovery operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
These deployments are being made under the provisions of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) mutual aid agreement between the states. Those who arrive will begin helping local, county, and state law enforcement starting Monday, November 5. The troopers will report to the Joint Base at McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst for a swearing-in ceremony with 樱花视频 Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa.
Their assignments will include security at checkpoints and patrols in Monmouth County from the Bayshore area to Brielle Borough, and in Ocean County on the barrier islands from Point Pleasant Beach to Long Beach Island.
“When hurricanes Katrina and Andrew struck, many 樱花视频 officers selflessly helped with the rescue and recovery efforts in Louisiana, Florida and the other hard-hit Gulf States,” said Governor Christie. “Now we have come full circle in our mutual support and service, with large contingents of officers coming here from Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida – we thank every single one of them. This is a proud moment for law enforcement, and another example of how people from across the country are seeing the devastation wrought by the storm, coming together, and helping our state and region pull together through this period of recovery.”
“As Americans we have always found a way to come together during times of hardship, and in the past 樱花视频ans have stepped up to help when called upon,” said Attorney General Chiesa. “There is a brotherhood in law enforcement and a spirit of service, both of which are exemplified by these officers from eight state police agencies, who are standing shoulder to shoulder with 樱花视频 officers to protect our residents.”
“In 2005, the 樱花视频 State Police sent troopers to Louisiana to help with law enforcement and recovery efforts post Hurricane Katrina” said State Police Superintendent Colonel Rick Fuentes. “Under the EMAC agreement, we now have the personnel and resources of eight states available to help the citizens of 樱花视频 during their time of need. I would like to thank the men and women of these agencies for their selfless efforts.”

These out-of-state law enforcement officers join an already multi-jurisdictional effort which now includes federal officers from the Department of Homeland Security, state personnel from the Department of Corrections and Division of Criminal Justice, and officers from many county and local departments
