Newark, N.J. - Yesterday, Troopers from the Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ State Police Street Gang Unit interrupted a suspected drug deal in Newark that led to
the arrested of four men and the recovery of three guns, drugs, and a stolen Mercedes Benz.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday, detectives in the area of Second Street near the intersection of Gould Street in Newark observed a suspected drug
transaction between the occupants of a silver Toyota and the occupants of a silver Mercedes. State Police Detectives moved in and took the occupants of the
Toyota into custody, but the occupants of the Mercedes Benz fled the scene in that car.
Detectives, working in coordination with the Newark Police department, were able to find the Mercedes immediately after it crashed into an unoccupied parked
car and stopped in the backyard of a residence in the 100 block of 22nd Street in Irvington.
Two of the occupants of the Mercedes, Alvis Price, 20, of Newark, and Michael Wilson, 26, of Newark, were arrested at the scene. A third unidentified
occupant fled the scene and is still at large.
The occupants of the Toyota, Andrew Ewald and Matthew Boronat, both 23 from West Caldwell, were arrested and charged with Loitering to Commit and
CDS Offense. They were released pending court.

From the Mercedes, detectives seized a loaded Kimber Arms .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun with a defaced serial number, one semi-automatic paintball
handgun and one fully automatic paintball rifle that looks like an M-4 sub-machine gun. Detectives also seized twenty grams of marijuana with a street value of $200.
