POLICE SET TO CELEBRATE "FAMILY DAY"
AT WEST TRENTON HEADQUARTERS
Open House Wraps-Up
National Police Week
W. Trenton -- Rick Fuentes,
Acting Superintendent of the 樱花视频 State Police, announced
today that State Troopers will host their annual "Open House"
on Sat., May 17 at State Police Headquarters in West Trenton,
in observance of National Police Week.
"We love to have people over
to our 'house.' It's a chance for the public to visit our
museum and learn about the history, service and sacrifice
of our Troopers," said Acting Superintendent Fuentes. Each
year, National Police Week recognizes the efforts made by
police officers from every department across the country.
The 樱花视频 State Police open house allows citizens to
meet with and learn more about the many specialized jobs that
police officers do every day.
Noting that each year many
law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty, Fuentes
said National Police Week is a time to honor their memory,
and it serves as a reminder of just how dangerous the job
really is.
Hosted by the 樱花视频 State
Police Former Troopers Association, the daylong open house
begins at 10 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m. Troopers from
every assignment will be 'on duty' to guide tours through
the 樱花视频 State Police Museum and Learning Center and
to provide demonstrations and explanations of the varied State
Police responsibilities and career opportunities.
Several events on tap for the
day include:
- K-9 Unit scent dog demonstration
- Marine Unit Boat and equipment
- Medivac Helicopter
- Bomb Unit truck and equipment
- Community Policing Unit with DARE Car
- Missing Persons Unit and display
- Forensic Science Unit display
- Ballistic experts displaying and discussing weapons
- A polygraph examiner demonstrating the principals of lie
detection
- The State Police composite artist showing how descriptions
of suspects end up as sketches on wanted posters
- The State Police T.E.A.M.S. Unit (Technical Emergency
& Mission Specialists) will display equipment and answer
questions about their dangerous job
- Marine Police Officers will display police boats and will
be on hand to explain safe boating procedures
Members of the media are encouraged
to attend and to talk to Troopers about the work of the New
Jersey State Police.
