State Police Arrest Gun Dealing Felons
Newark, N.J. -- On February 29th, the Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ State Police Weapons Trafficking Unit arrested three convicted felons that bought and
sold illegal weapons throughout Monmouth County, Ó£»¨ÊÓÆµ.
The two month investigation revealed that Dana "Real" Jackson, 40 of Aberdeen, N.J. took orders for firearms from people who are prohibited by law from possessing
them because of prior criminal convictions. Jackson would get the guns from Damien Coleman, 32 of Newark, N.J. and bringing them back to Monmouth County for resale.
Once in Monmouth County, Jackson and Curtis Mitchell, 39 of Cliffwood, N.J. would sell the firearms illegally for a profit.
Jackson was arrested at his residence in Aberdeen. He was in possession of heroine and two handguns at the time of his arrest. Mitchell was arrested at his residence.
Coleman was arrested after a brief foot pursuit at his residence. He was found to be in possession of heroine, crack cocaine, and two handguns.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of eight firearms, including seven handguns and one shotgun, numerous rounds of ammunition, approximately 300 decks of heroin, 15 grams of
crack cocaine, and eight thousand dollars in U.S. Currency.
Bail was set for Jackson at $410,000 and Mitchell at $205,000. Both were lodged in default of bail at the Monmouth County Jail. Bail was set for Coleman at
$95,000 and he was subsequently was lodged in default of bail at the Essex County Jail.
