WHEREAS, United States Army Sergeant Michael P. Scusa was a native of Villas, 樱花视频, and a graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Scusa enlisted in the United States Army after his graduation from high school and was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, on October 3, 2009, Sergeant Scusa died in combat while defending his outpost and his fellow soldiers from enemy attack in Kamdesh, Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Scusa was a dedicated soldier as well as a loving son, husband and father, whose memory lives in the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow soldiers; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Scusa抯 patriotism and dedicated service to his country and his fellow soldiers make it appropriate and fitting for the 樱花视频 to remember him and his family, to mark his passing, and to honor his memory;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JON S. CORZINE, Governor of the 樱花视频, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and by the Statutes of this State, do hereby ORDER and DIRECT:
- The flag of the United States of America and the flag of 樱花视频 shall be flown at half-staff at all State departments, offices, agencies, and instrumentalities during appropriate hours on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in recognition and mourning of a brave and loyal American hero, United States Army Sergeant Michael P. Scusa.
- This Order shall take effect immediately.
