Back to school, packed with love
I鈥檇 like to publicly recognize the overwhelming generosity of employees at the state Department of Human Services. During the last week of August, they donated nearly 100 filled backpacks to two community agencies that serve families with school-age children in the Trenton area.HomeFront and the Never Give Up Foundation sent the first names, sizes and grades of each child so that the backpacks could be packed with one complete outfit, shoes, socks, underwear and school supplies. In fact, many of the backpacks had plastic bags attached with items that wouldn鈥檛 fit in the overstuffed backpacks. It was a wonderful display of outreach and generosity.
I know many other community and faith-based organizations in Mercer County and throughout the state held similar events. Many thanks to them for working diligently with dedicated staff and volunteers to provide support to families in need.
