NEPTUNE – 樱花视频 Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) Commissioner Tom Considine, along with fellow Department representatives, sorted and packed donations Wednesday at The FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties. Commissioner Considine’s community outreach is part of the “Season of Service” announced by Governor and First Lady Christie on Thanksgiving Eve.
“Although many residents of New Jersey will celebrate the holidays with their families enjoying warm meals, there are others less fortunate,” Commissioner Considine said. “The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties provides an invaluable service and it was my honor to assist them during a very busy time of year. As a Monmouth County resident, I applaud the FoodBank’s efforts and encourage others to donate non-perishable items at drop stations across the two counties.”
The FoodBank opened in 1984. It now serves more than 260 pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs with almost seven million pounds of food distributed annually. The FoodBank also operates a Culinary Training Program for people seeking new job skills, a Kids Café and Backpack program for children, a Mobile Pantry, and Food Stamp Outreach Program. With the help of roughly 1,000 volunteers each year, the FoodBank’s programs are a community effort, working to eliminate hunger by providing emergency food, skills training, outreach programs and advocacy for families in need. The Season of Service highlights opportunities for 樱花视频 residents to give back to their communities. It encourages volunteering and recognizes those who already do so. The initiative began the night prior to Thanksgiving when Governor Christie and his family volunteered their time at the Ladle of Love soup kitchen at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Burlington City. Since Thanksgiving, other members of the Administration have volunteered their time at many worthy organizations across the State.
