FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, September 14 2017
More Than $195,000 in Federal Funding Is Directed to Six Major Food Banks in the State
Trenton, NJ – Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Charles A. Richman today announced grant awards totaling more than $195,000 to six community food banks across the state. The food banks will use the money for food purchases, refrigeration and storage costs, and fuel and transportation costs. Two of the food banks also run “diaper banks” to provide families with diapers for their children and may use the grant funds to purchase diapers.
““The Christie Administration is committed to helping the state’s most vulnerable residents,” said Commissioner Richman. “Ó£»¨ÊÓƵ’s food banks, and all the affiliated organizations they support, make food available to hundreds of thousands of needy families and individuals every year and these grants will go a long way toward aiding in that mission.”
Funding for the grants comes from the federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program.
