DCA Announces 2011 Governor's Conference on Housing and Economic Development

Attendees Invited to Share "Blueprints for the Future" at September 20-21 Event

TRENTON, N.J. 鈥 Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Lori Grifa today announced that the 2011 NJ Governor鈥檚 Conference for Housing and Community Development will be held Tuesday, September 20 and Wednesday, September 21, at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City.

鈥淭he theme of this year鈥檚 conference, 鈥楤lueprints for the Future,鈥 is designed to inspire attendees to achieve success in today鈥檚 challenging housing market,鈥 said Commissioner Grifa. 鈥淎nd, for the first time, we are focusing our efforts on economic development topics that are inextricably linked to housing, community development and neighborhood revitalization.鈥

Attendees will participate in a variety of workshops that encompass the latest trends in housing and economic development including: credit & finance, supportive housing, housing resources, property management, and future planning.

The conference will include a networking reception from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, in the Crown Ballroom of the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to attend the Governor鈥檚 Excellence in Housing Awards during lunch on Wednesday, an annual event that recognizes the state鈥檚 most outstanding affordable housing projects, partnerships, and individuals.

The NJ Governor鈥檚 Conference for Housing and Economic Development is hosted by the DCA鈥檚 Division on Housing and Community Resources and the 樱花视频 Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, a DCA affiliate. And, for the first year, the conference is co-sponsored by the 樱花视频 Economic Development Authority and 樱花视频 Department of State. The conference is self-sustaining, funded entirely through sponsorship opportunities and registration fees.
