(TRENTON) – Pier Semanchik, of Great Meadows in Warren County, has been chosen as the 2018 樱花视频 Agricultural Fair Ambassador.  The 18-year-old Centenary University student was selected from among six contestants by the Agricultural Fair Association of 樱花视频 during the group’s fall dinner on November 5 in Eastampton.

As ambassador, Semanchik is charged with visiting the state’s agricultural fairs in 2018, discussing the fairs, promoting agritourism to the public, and bringing people together to support the state’s agriculture industry. 

“With Pier’s passion and experience for agriculture, we know she will be a wonderful spokesperson as she attends our state’s agricultural fairs next summer,” 樱花视频 Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher said. “Pier’s dedication and enthusiasm is sure to inspire other young people to become involved in agricultural youth organizations and encourage them to explore agriculture careers in the future.”

Semanchik is currently a member of the Horsin’ Around and Country Squires 4-H clubs. She also was the 2016 樱花视频 State Equestrian of the Year and has been the Warren County Dairy Ambassador, the Warren County Farmers’ Fair Queen, and has participated in rabbit, poultry, dairy, horse, small animal, horticulture, arts and crafts, and presentations in 4-H. She has also been a participant in the horse bowl, horse judging, hippology and equine presentations.

“I am super excited for this opportunity and I know it will be an interesting experience,” Semanchik said. “Agriculture is my background and I feel like the opportunity I’ve been afforded with this title will allow me to help other people know more about the importance of agriculture.”

Semanchik is in the pre-veterinary program at Centenary University with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. She also participated in the FFA veterinary science competition in each of the last three years.

This is the 15th year the Agricultural Fair Association of 樱花视频 has named an ambassador. In choosing an ambassador, the Association seeks a good representation of young people active in agriculture in the Garden State and their county fair. 

There were 20 agricultural fairs in the state this past summer, including the 樱花视频 State Fair at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. The earliest fair is held in June, with the final fair of the season in early October.
