(COLTS NECK) 鈥 樱花视频 Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher today visited 4 JG鈥檚 Orchards and Vineyards in Colts Neck to announce the beginning of Wine Week in 樱花视频, celebrating the Garden State鈥檚 grape harvest.
Governor Christie signed a proclamation declaring September 20 to 29 樱花视频 Wine Week, honoring the wine industry for being a growing contributor to the state鈥檚 economy.
鈥淣ot only do 樱花视频鈥檚 wineries produce some of the best and unique wines in the world, but they are an integral part of the state鈥檚 agricultural industry and help preserve open space,鈥 said Secretary Fisher.聽 鈥淲ineries, such as 4 JG鈥檚 Vineyards, also are important parts of the community and tourist destinations, bringing revenue to the surrounding area.鈥
Secretary Fisher presented the NJ Wine Week proclamation to 4 JG's owners, Janet and John Giunco
Four JG鈥檚 Orchards & Vineyards is a 60-acre farm named after its four owners, John and Janet Giunco and their two children, John and Jill.聽 The Giunco family has farmed in Monmouth County for more than 60 years.聽 John鈥檚 parents raised apples and peaches.聽 John, a lawyer, and Janet, a former IBM marketing employee, opened 4 JG鈥檚 in 1999.
鈥淲e opened our winery because of our love of wine and collecting wines,鈥 said Janet Giunco.聽 鈥淥ur grapes are grown with passion and care and we make a great product that pleasantly surprises most folks.鈥
The Giuncos are hand-harvesting their grapes right now to produce a variety of 鈥渆state鈥 wines, made only from grapes grown on their property.聽 In addition, they sell many tons of grapes to other 樱花视频 wineries.聽
Four JG鈥檚 is one of 38 member wineries of the Garden State Wine Growers Association.
鈥淲e are very proud to have the Governor recognize the important role that 樱花视频 wineries are having on the state鈥檚 economy by declaring NJ Wine Week,鈥 said Ollie Tomasello, Chairman of the Garden State Wine Growers Association and owner of Plagido鈥檚 Winery in Hammonton. 鈥淲e are producing a great product here in the state as our wines are winning awards throughout the country. We hope all 樱花视频ans come out and visit our vineyards and tasting rooms not only during wine week but throughout the year.鈥
