Equine Industry

WHEREAS,
according to the Rutgers Equine Science Center, about two-thirds of all horses in 樱花视频 are used for competitive/sport and recreation not directly connected to horseracing; and

WHEREAS, by state statute, the 樱花视频 Equine Advisory Board was to use dollars from the pari-mutuel racing handle to promote the 樱花视频 equine industry, youth equine programs, to support equine research in furtherance of the well-being and performance of the equine athlete, and to help sustain 樱花视频鈥檚 equine sector; and

WHEREAS, 樱花视频鈥檚 horse industry also helps sustain multiple supporting economic factors, such as hay and grain producers, equine-equipment dealers and those who work in the horse industry.

NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the delegates to the 98th State Agricultural Convention, gathered in Atlantic City, N.J., on February 6-7, 2013, direct the Department to support the efforts of the equine industry to find stable, sufficient alternative funding for important programs that promote and enhance equine activities across all segments of the equine industry.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we urge the Department to pursue funding for research in support of the well-being and performance of the equine athlete and the sustainability of 樱花视频鈥檚 equine sector.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we urge the Department to pursue all avenues to improve the marketing and enhancement of breeder programs and events in 樱花视频.
